Honoree: Dorothy Maynor (1910-1996) was an African-American soprano, music educator and one of the most highly praised singers of the 1940ís and 1950ís. In 1963, she founded the Harlem School of Arts. She was also the first African American on the Board of the Metropolitan Opera.
