John and Dorothy Maguire Way (Brooklyn)
Location:At the intersection of 79th Street and Fifth Avenue
Honoree: John Maguire was one of the founders of the Bay Ridge Ambulance Volunteer Organization (BRAVO) and was a successful attorney. He joined the Marine Corps in the 1940ís and served in World War II. A trained EMT, he along with other civic leaders formed BRAVO, composed entirely of volunteers, to help relieve the cityís overworked 911 emergency system in the early 1970ís. BRAVO is still active today. (Gentile)
William J. Maguire Way (Staten Island)
Location:Intersection of Kensington Avenue and Kramer Street
Honoree: William J. Maguire (1936-2010) a retired fireman, was a baseball coach at Holy Rosary for eight years and managed teams at East Shore Little League from 1972 to 1980. In 1975 Holy Rosaryís CYO team won 16 consecutive games and the NYS Archdiocesan Championship.
