Honoree: Howard C. Haider (1941-2016) served in the New York Army National Guard from 1963 to 2003. He was the first person in the state to secure the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CW5). He also served as colonel and commandant of the Old Guard of the City of New York and was involved in many military, veterans, religious and fraternal organizations, as well as the Bronx Chapter of the National Guard technician labor union (ACT). He was actively engaged with the St. Kevinís Sea Cadets for 40 plus years; President of the Empire State Warrant Officers Association; and Vice President for NG Affairs of the US Army Warrant Officers Association.
